While our whole trip has been wonderful, heading to Cinque Terre was the thing I had looked forward to the most. Wyly had been to visit the 5 fishing villages 9 years earlier and had such wonderful memories it was something I definitely wanted to see. It was everything I had hoped it would be and more. We took the early train out of Florence and headed to Cinque Terre arriving early enough to both hike and have time on the beach (must for a vacation!). We hiked between Monterosso and Vernazza - the views were amazing, the steps were not that much fun, but the company was GREAT.
We made it into Vernazza, had some lunch and picked Wynn up a snorkel. Although it looked like rain, the skies cleared and we headed to the beach for the most relaxing afternoon. The beach provided some great people watching and laughs. Bessie and I headed into the town to shop while the boys stayed on the beach. Once in town, we found that the church was having a celebration to help rebuild after the mudslides, and we helped the cause by purchasing our lemon glasses. For supper that evening I got to enjoy Bessie and Wynn and hear about the trip and the next plans. We closed the night out at the church celebration.
It really was a perfect day...ceg
