Roma Day 2

Day 2 in Rome we set out for more sightseeing.

The Pantheon:  Well, we actually went there day one, but I had to include it.  It blows my mind to think about how they built this way back then.

The ceiling of the dome in the Pantheon.
Trevi Fountain:  Pretty cool fountain, but way too many tourists.

Street vendors:  At one point, street vendors came running past us with all of their stuff and then hid from the police.

What they were hiding from.
Vittorio Emmanuel:  Not sure what this dude did, but he has a pretty impressive building named after him.

Roman Forum:  This was one of my favorite parts of Rome.  I couldn't believe how they have just left it the way it is for so many years.

Stadium:  This old stadium was part of the forum.

Vespa:  Beth says she is getting a Vespa when we get back to the states.

Colosseum:  This was probably my favorite thing in Rome.  I did not think I would be that excited about it.  I even told Beth that I didn't care if we went there or not.  Glad she is making the travel plans for us because it would have been awful to miss this.

Porchetta:  Mmm mmm.  This was my favorite food in Rome.  The place that we went to has been serving it since 1925.  Two porchetta sandwiches and two glasses of wine for 9 euros.

All in all, Rome was alright.  I knew it was a big city, but I did not know how spread out it is, which makes it hard to cover everything on 2 feet.  We did a pretty good job, though.  Beth's feet were worn out by the end of all of the walking, so she threw on her tennis shoes.

Looking like a straight up tourist.
