Easter Mass

After the explosion of the cart, we went back to the Duomo to experience Easter Mass. Once inside, I was amazed at the size and beauty of the church. It was like something that you see in the movies. The first 30 minutes was Vespers (or chanting). This was awesome to see in person. I didn't have a clue what they were chanting, but there is no way to be in the presence of that and not be moved spiritually. After the chanting, the service started. There had to have been more than 500 people there. Again, I could not understand anything that was being said, but it was still amazing to see that many people in such an astonishing environment praising the resurrection of Jesus. Since I couldn't understand and already know the story of Easter, I mostly studied the huge mural painted on the dome of the church trying to understand it. Beth and I passed on communion mostly because Beth said that she heard that you are not supposed to take communion in a Catholic church if you are not Catholic (I am not sure about that one, though).
