Today we went on a guided walking tour of Florence. I am so glad that we did this because I love all of the history. I quickly realized that I don't know anything about the history of Florence. I am assuming that I was not taught about Florence, and not that I either forgot what I was taught or wasn't listening. Typically, I am not a tour kind of person, but I would recommend this to visitors of Florence. I really learned a lot and became more interested in the buildings here. I guess that it is the construction project manager in me, but every building we toured I couldn't help but notice all of the details and wonder how long must have taken to construct these buildings. Of course I was trying to think of ways to get it done cheaper and quicker. Man am I glad they did not think the way that I have been taught to build or we may have never seen such masterful buildings. I can't remember who it was but one architect spent 50 years building 2 sets of doors for one of the buildings. He would have been fired pretty quick these days.
During the tour we came across the above statue. I might have zoned out but I am pretty sure that this is a statue of the world's first tea bagger. They love their nude statues here.
